The chemistry and camaraderie is immediately apparent between Surabhi, a vibrant, bubbly doctor and Siddharth, a chivalrous, charming journalist. They met on Aisle and found exactly the kind of partner they were looking for in each other.

“I had been on various dating apps, but everyone wanted hook-ups,” says Surabhi. “I heard of Aisle from a friend — he was going steady with a girl he met on the app. So I thought, why not?” Besides, she loved the name. “You know, like walking down the aisle… it’s what I was looking for!”

Surabhi was divorced; she didn’t want to jump into anything anytime soon. “I was sure about a commitment, just not about marriage.” When she connected with Siddharth on Aisle, that changed. “He was also divorced and in a similar headspace. It didn’t hurt that his profile picture was cute, and he was 5’11’’. Those were all positives for me.”

Cut to their first date. Siddharth, who was usually late for everything, reached early to meet Surabhi. He even bought flowers. “When she arrived, I opened the car door for her and the first thing she said was ‘You’re not 5'11”!’ Imagine that,” Sid recalls.

However, Siddharth turned out to be 5'11" and Surabhi turned out to be everything he was looking for in a partner. “I wanted a partner who was well-educated and with whom I could discuss a variety of subjects. We’re both also very social and believe in star signs.”

Surabhi and Siddharth felt an intense connection, like they had always known each other. There were a few details to iron out, though. “Surabhi wanted to keep things open till she knew for sure. But I wasn’t too keen on that, because I was already sure about her.”

Surabhi’s concerns were more cultural. “I’m from South Delhi and he’s a South Indian from a traditional background. I was worried that our cultural upbringing wouldn’t match. Luckily, he was brought up in Delhi, so it was like the best of both worlds,” Surabhi says.

What about the parents? “I think the biggest check point for me was how loving Siddharth was towards my parents. For me, that was a big green flag,” Surabhi says. Even Siddharth’s mother knew that he was serious when he invited Surabhi home for dinner. “Mom loved Surabhi,” he says.

“Even though we don’t know everything about each other yet, there’s this intense trust and faith in each other. We both know that this is it,” Surabhi says. The couple are all set to get married early next year. “We want to take our time and not rush into it,” Siddharth says.

Their dating advice to anyone looking for a partner is exactly that: don’t rush into it. “Meet each other in-person once at least and spend time. Forget playing the field, be sure about them first,” Siddharth says. Surabhi adds, “Don’t lower your standards. Be patient. Wait. But don’t lower your standards. You will find the person who’s meant for you.”

Hear hear! Aisle wishes you a lifetime of love and laughter, Surabhi and Siddharth!
